Attic conversions are a fun way to add square footage to your home. Many homeowners consider building an addition to their house when the family's needs grow too big for their current space. New additions, however, can be expensive, time consuming, and can ruin the look of your home's exterior. Consider moving upward rather than outward! Consider remodeling existing upstairs storage areas instead!
Doing an attic remodel allows you to use existing space as improved storage or additional living areas. Obviously, it is important to know your desired purpose of this space. By thinking of the area as you would a finished basement, so many ideas come to mind. You could turn the attic into a master bedroom, a home office, a child’s bedroom, an extra bathroom, an exercise room, or a huge walk-in closet.
For example ...
Just a few years ago we did a remodel of an empty, above-garage attic space that was adjacent to the master bedroom. With careful measurements and planning, we turned this wasted space into a massive dressing room and walk-in closet. Our crew built knee-wall shelving and drawer units, and installed a large center island filled with drawers and hidden hampers. We also provided double-hang clothing storage along the taller wall of the room. Our client absolutely loves it, and calls this new space her "Princess Room"! (pictured at top of this page)
